As an anthropologist and archaeologist I examine how people engage with the natural environment and the consequences of that interaction over time. In the absence of obviously altered landscapes you can often see the impact that people have on their surroundings. Painting with pastels enables me to communicate how I see this relationship from broad strokes to the details of light and dark. I want my paintings to touch a person’s senses and to see the world from a different view.
